“ After hearing the rather shocking news of Jimmy Buffett’s unexpected death yesterday, Sept 2nd, and being a big fan of his from the ‘70’s when I first came to Florida, I felt the need to acknowledge his passing in some way. A friend lives in the Margaritaville community, so we met up there for a drink at the Latitude Bar & Chill, and ended up having dinner. (Note: You cannot get access to this restaurant/bar or the community, unless you know someone who lives there. When we arrived I didn’t know my friend’s address as we were meeting at the bar, so security did call him to verify we were legit.) Was my first time there, and I was very impressed. The place is new, spotlessly clean, and the live music from the adjacent Latitude stage floated across the Town Square. Our server was great, the food and drinks superb, (pina colada, pigs in a blanket, pulled pork & mango burger, all totally awesome!), the prices very reasonable (see menu photo), and we got to reminisce about our one and only Jimmy B. If you have a friend who lives in the Margaritaville community, do yourself a favor and invite yourself and your friend for dinner at the Latitude Bar & Chill one nice evening. It’s a wonderful place to hang out and enjoy life, and, if you feel the urge, pay one’s respects to the late great, Jimmy B. Rest in Peace Jimmy, it wasn’t planned to be this way, you were supposed to outlive us all. ”
